It's Summer!! Aren't I supposed to be having fun?

Ok so I haven’t really written about what’s going on in my life in ages so here we go:

Classes. The first summer session started and I am going insane as I mentioned before. I am taking three classes which may not seem like a lot but in summer session time it is. Most people take one maybe two but three is just plain madness. Classes meet everyday and the work is in hyper drive because you are cramming about 4 months of work into 6 weeks. Luckily the classes I have are good and the professors are excellent. Two are English classes. The one has a focus of learning how to write a grant proposal. Probably a good thing for me to ! learn because of my dream of running my own nonprofit organization. The class only meets three days a week for three hours at a time and we have a paper due every time we have class. On top of that we have about 50-60 (sometimes more) pages to read in that class for every class. The other is a 400 level English class focusing on American literature after WWII. The theme of the class is literature looking at race and ethnicity and the American Identity right after WWII and just before 9/11. The class is amazing but we have 6 books to read, one a week, and they are not small books. So I have about 100 pages of reading a night for this class as well. And we have readi! ng pop quizzes every week that are worth 40% of our grade. So I have to keep up with it. So far so good and the books are excellent so I am doing ok reading them. However I normally spend at least 4 hours a night working on it all. I seriously have no life. My last class is Archery.

Archery. I have fallen in love with the sport. Two weeks ago I had never touched a bow and arrow in my life now I am plotting how I can raise the money to buy my own (I guess I should buy I car first but whatever). I am hoping that I can find a club or something wherever I happen to move to that I can join. My friends and family are ecstatic (and also slightly amused) that I have found a sport that I enjoy, I’m not a sports kinda girl. And even if I did see a sport that I got into I am normally just a spectator not a participant.

Sports Injury. Speaking of sports I now have my first sports injury! I got a gigantic bruise on my arm from class. I got it the first day we actually shot arrows; the string hit my arm… twice… I have learned my lesson and not hit myself again, however it has been almost two weeks later and I still have remnants of the bruise. This thing was impressive. My archery instructor told me about helping it with the six-pack method. Buy a six pack of your favorite cold beverage, hold one to the bruise, and drink the other five. Once you finish you shouldn’t care about the bruise anymore. I thought this was a great idea.

Work. On top of all my class work I also work at the bookstore everyday. When I say everyday I am not kidding, I get every other Saturday off and that is it. Over this past holiday weekend I worked everyday, including today. It wasn’t much of a holiday for me. I’m about ready to rip out my hair and it is only heading into week three of the summer session. Don’t forget I have to do this for the next 6 week session as well. Oh what I do to graduate.

FUN. Somehow I did find time for some fun.

HFSetival. On my last real day off I went to HFSetival in MD with B, Jack, and Elise. Wayyy fun. But not much of a day off.

21st Birthday Bar Tour. One of my fellow bookstore employees just turned 21 and of course we all had to go out to celebrate. We all got wicked trashed and had a blast. I love the people I work with; it is the only thing that keeps me going back everyday.

Troy and The Day After Tomorrow. I saw two of the big summer movies. Both are Okay. I can’t say much more. Oh yeah and the boys were hot. Yep that is about it.

Vote! Watched the American Idol finale with a friend. This resulted in an amusing conversation:

Me: Did you know that more people vote for American Idol then vote in the Presidential election?
Friend: Well I'm sure that there is not a lot of cross over.
Me: Hey! I vote for American Idol and in the Presidential Election.
Friend: Yeah well you are politically minded. You hear the word "vote" and run to the polls screaming, "I will exercise my right!"

Yes, that is all the fun stuff that I have done the past two weeks. Sad isn’t it?

Boys. Boys will be boys. Ugh.

Well I guess that is it for now. I will try to be better about writing so I’m not writing a novel like this next time. However this is all dependent on free time which is at a premium right now. My goal is to try to write at lest weekly. We’ll see.

PS: I'm posting from work at the bookstore... mahahahaha. I hate my job.
